Home -- since this is my "home" page here is a sampling of what I do at home.....

  • Work in my garden, which includes building stone walls and walkways, this year's goal to reduce the grass and increase the garden space.
  • Read on the porch, I have a porch swing and spend a little time on it most days, reading or later at night listening to the night sounds.
  • Cooking, I love to experiment with recipes and try out new foods, right now I am busy practicing making "canneles" and I never seem to have any problems with friend volunteering to try them out!
  • See Bread & Pastry page for my next cooking classes

Feast of the Hunter's Moon

I am a quiltmaker and artist living in central Illinois -- on the "Grand Prairie". I draw my inspiration from the farmland and bits of remaining prairie that surround me everyday.  My quilts reflect colors and patterns of the land.  While I work primarily by hand in traditional techniques, the quilts I create are not traditional.

I teach and lecture throughout the midwest and beyond.  Silk ribbon embroidery is a major component in my quilts and in the classes I teach.  I also have delved deeply into several other areas that interest me and have added pages about those things too. Come visit my site and learn more about my world.

Check out the festival page for upcoming events!

or take a mini trip to France by visiting my "French Connection"

If you like Celtic music visit my Irish music page.

If you are a baker, please check out the bread page where I will have occasional recipes and findings as I continue learning about the wonderful art of baking.

Special thanks to my friend Laura who helped me set up this site!

What's New?

Seems as if winter has been long and it is still January.  I'm planning my next trip to France - this year will travel once again to Bayeux to visit the tapestry, also hope to go to visit the walled city of Dinan, it is a great place to get a feel for medieval France.  I will also spend three days at Mont St. Michel, it is a good place to relax after a week in Paris.

Soon I will start to update my Historical Festivals, Shows and Events for this year.   You can read more about the "Feast" and other festivals there. -- click on Feast of the Hunter's Moon below.

This winter I have been busy designing sheep - all done in silk ribbon, it is fun to decide on poses and colors to shade them.  Think a black one will be next.

  • I keep promisign to get back to work on a booklet of quilted petticoat patterns, last year I finally found out that the person who kept asking for patterns is my friend Sharon - another reenactor who has the fun booth - Blue Goose.  Before I knew he she would come to Ft. de Chartres each year and ask for patterns - I have been doing the research on and off for several years, really want to get it done.
